Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Providencia stood out at the Science Fair organised by the University of Santiago, Chile (USACH), an event designed to bring science, research and creativity closer to primary and secondary students from across the country. As part of the fair, the Dra Elsa Abuin Competition and the Illustrating the Future Competition were held, both aimed at promoting scientific thinking, innovation and reflection on the future.In the Dra Elsa Abuin Competition, the school achieved second place with the project“Lavenders in the classroom to improve school performance”, developed by Martina P. (Year 8A) and Melimargarita M. (Year 10C) from the ILOS Changemakers Academy. The initiative explored wellbeing and concentration in the classroom by measuring CO₂ levels and introducing lavender to support the learning environment. The project was presented through an explanatory video and received its award on 10 January at USACH.In addition, in the Illustrating the Future Competition, aimed at primary school students from across the country, student Carlos M. was recognised with theBest Idea Award in the Year 5 category, standing out for his creativity and forward-looking vision linked to science.
