Students’ academic success begins with a clear understanding of the knowledge and skills they need at each stage of their learning journey.
At CPV Providencia, students benefit from a well-structured curriculum, a research-informed approach and effective assessment tools, all designed to deepen understanding and support consistent progress.
Through assemblies, the curriculum and activities such as the CMAT Maths Competition, students develop essential skills for life. These experiences help them strengthen their communication, teamwork and problem-solving abilities, preparing them to succeed at school and beyond.
At Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Providencia, language immersion is one of our core pillars, supported by programmes such as the English Speaking Union.
From an early age, students learn in a bilingual environment, developing confidence in both English and Spanish while also having the opportunity to explore other languages, including Chinese. This rich linguistic exposure empowers them to engage confidently in a global community, building the skills and understanding needed to connect across cultures and contexts.
Learning extends far beyond the classroom through a wide range of educational trips, from local day visits to international language immersion experiences. These opportunities allow students to discover new places, experience different cultures and bring their learning to life.
PVP students also take part in International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS), broadening their global perspective and inspiring new interests and ambitions. Through these experiences, students develop the confidence, curiosity and intercultural understanding needed to thrive in a connected world.
Our university and careers guidance programme helps students discover their strengths, explore their interests, and feel more confident about the future. Through a range of activities, fairs, talks, and platforms such as Unifrog, they gain valuable insight into both academic and professional pathways.
We support them with clear information about their study options, as well as first-hand experiences shared by students already in higher education. In this way, we give them the guidance, encouragement, and practical tools they need to make informed decisions and take the next step in their educational journey with confidence.
Unifrog
Students use Unifrog to explore their interests, discover academic and career pathways, and find education and training opportunities in a globalised world.
They can research international universities, learn more about application processes, and access tools and resources that support informed decision-making. These include vocational and personality quizzes, academic articles, and a digital library with information on degree subjects and professional careers. Students can return to their account as often as they wish, making Unifrog a valuable part of their future planning journey.
CMAT
The School Mathematics Championship (CMAT) is a national competition in which schools and students take part in tests designed to assess mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Organised in two stages, qualifying and final, the championship follows different formats according to each age group. Its aim is to identify talent early and foster a lasting interest in mathematics.
At our school, with the support of the leadership team, teachers and families, students are encouraged to take part in CMAT as a way to strengthen their mathematical thinking and build enthusiasm for the subject from an early age. This year, we also welcomed Year 4 students into the competition, creating even more opportunities for challenge and growth.
Here you will find the materials lists, reading plan titles and set texts for Middle School.
Students should start bringing in their books and materials according to the guidance shared in the welcome emails sent by each Head Teacher, in line with the schedule for each school section. We kindly ask families to ensure that all items are sent in responsibly and clearly labelled with the student’s name and class.
English Speaking Union (Chile) is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the use of English and strengthening students’ language skills.
Our school takes an active part in its public speaking competitions, debates and academic activities, giving students valuable opportunities to develop their spoken English, strengthen their argumentation skills and grow in confidence when speaking in public.
Through these experiences, students enrich their overall education, sharpen their critical thinking and build the confidence and communication skills needed to thrive in an increasingly globalised world.
Middle School supports students through a key stage of transition, promoting their academic, socio-emotional and values-based development.
