Thanks to the support they receive throughout their journey, every Senior School student is guided towards success and, ultimately, secures a place at one of their first-choice universities through the PAES preparation programme delivered by Preuniversitario Pedro de Valdivia. Alongside their regular lessons, students benefit from personalised tutoring with subject specialists, ensuring they have the guidance, confidence, and support they need to achieve their full potential.
Through assemblies, daily experiences and the curriculum, students develop essential life skills that support success far beyond the classroom. As they strengthen communication, teamwork and problem-solving, they grow in confidence and become better prepared for every stage of life.
At Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Providencia, language immersion is one of the cornerstones of our educational approach, strengthened by programmes such as the English Speaking Union. From the very beginning, students learn and grow in a bilingual environment, developing confidence in both English and Spanish.
This continuous exposure helps them engage confidently with the world around them, building the skills and understanding needed to connect across cultures and contexts.
Learning extends far beyond the classroom through enriching educational trips, from local day visits to international language immersion experiences. These opportunities allow students to explore new places, encounter different cultures and broaden their understanding of the world.
Through International Learning Opportunities for Students (ILOS), they gain valuable global perspectives, discover new interests and build the confidence and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly connected world.
Our vocational guidance programme supports students as they develop self-awareness and explore the academic and professional world. Through activities, fairs and talks, students gain insight into a wide range of study pathways and hear first-hand from those already experiencing higher education.
With personalised guidance, practical tools and reliable information, we help each student make informed decisions and move confidently into the next stage of their educational journey.
SEAP preparation
In partnership with Pedro de Valdivia Pre-University, we offer students in Years 12 and 13 dedicated preparation for the national PAES examination. As this programme forms part of the regular school day, students benefit from structured, effective support without the need to travel elsewhere in the city.
The programme strengthens students’ subject knowledge while helping them become familiar with the format and demands of the PAES. To support their progress, we provide mock examination days that replicate the real testing experience and build confidence, regular monitoring of results to identify strengths and areas for improvement, and ongoing access to digital platforms with talks, study resources, practice papers and academic guidance.
Unifrog
Unifrog gives students a friendly and accessible space to explore international university options and learn more about application processes around the world. Through the platform, they can access vocational and personality questionnaires, a digital library of subjects and career pathways, academic articles and a wide range of useful resources, available whenever they log in.
Designed to support informed decision-making, Unifrog helps students explore their interests, identify their strengths and discover education and training opportunities in an increasingly globalised world.
CMAT
The School Mathematics Championship (CMAT) is a national competition in which schools and students take part in tests that measure mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills. Its aim is to identify talent from an early age and foster a lasting interest in mathematics through challenge and discovery. The championship is organised in two stages — a qualifying round and a final — with different formats according to students’ age and level.
At our school, with the support of school leaders, teachers and families, we actively encourage participation in CMAT as a way to strengthen mathematical thinking and inspire enthusiasm for the subject from an early age. This year, we also welcomed Year 5 students into the competition, further expanding opportunities for challenge, growth and learning.
English Speaking Union Chile is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting the use of English and strengthening students’ language skills.
Our school takes an active part in its public speaking competitions, debates and academic initiatives, giving students valuable opportunities to develop their spoken English, strengthen their argumentation skills and grow in confidence when speaking in public.
Through these experiences, we enrich students’ all-round education, nurture critical thinking and prepare them to meet the academic and professional challenges of an increasingly globalised world with confidence and success.
From Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Providencia to the world’s leading universities, our students graduate with the academic results, skills and confidence to succeed in higher education and beyond.

Here you will find the materials lists, reading plan titles and study texts for Senior School.
Students should begin bringing these items in line with the guidance shared in the welcome emails from each Head Teacher, according to the planning for each school section. We kindly ask families to ensure that all resources are sent in responsibly and clearly labelled with the student’s name and year group.
As Heads of Senior School, our main focus is to provide close and systematic support for each student’s academic and personal development, promoting high expectations, responsibility and continuous improvement.
Ximena Pérez de Arce, Senior School Director
We work with clear guidelines for monitoring and support, ensuring that every student has the opportunities and tools needed to reach their full potential. Likewise, we place special importance on positive coexistence, fostering an environment based on respect, dialogue and empathy. We believe that a positive atmosphere and smooth communication between school and families are fundamental pillars for personal and academic development. We are confident that, by working together, we will continue to build a strong, committed community focused on excellence.
