The Participatory Process to Define the New School Uniform Begins

On Tuesday, August 25, the first meeting between the Student Councils of the Pedro de Valdivia Schools was held at Colegio Pedro de Valdivia Las Condes.

An event that brought together student representatives to share ideas, strengthen their leadership skills, and actively participate in an important process for the school community.

During the event, students took part in a session led by John Escobar, who guided them through a leadership and motivation activity focused on strengthening collaboration, participation, and their ability to promote initiatives within their communities.

One of the main objectives of the meeting was to begin the process of evaluating and designing a potential new school uniform. In this first stage, students were able to vote on whether they were interested in making a change and then participate in a collaborative brainstorming session to propose and design the different elements that could be included in the new uniform.

As a result of this collaborative work, several elements appeared consistently across proposals from the different schools, including grey skirts and trousers. For other items, such as polo shirts, sweatshirts, and additional garments, different alternatives emerged and will be considered during the next stage of the process.

During the week of August 31, the design proposals developed through this collaborative process will be shared. In the following days, the Student Council will participate in a new vote to choose among the final proposals, moving one step closer to defining the uniform that will represent our students.

In this way, the process aims to ensure that students’ voices play a central role at every stage, from generating ideas to making the final choice. The new uniform will be announced in October, once all participation and voting stages have been completed.

More than simply defining a new uniform, this initiative is an opportunity for our students to participate, contribute their ideas, and take an active role in decisions that are part of everyday life at their schools.
